WATCH | Charlotte (NC) FD Swift Water Rescue Team Mobilizes for Tropical Storm Debby

In response to the potential hazardous conditions caused by Tropical Storm Debby, the Charlotte Fire’s Swift Water Rescue Team has been deployed to Elizabethtown, North Carolina, the department said in a post on YouTube.

The team left the Charlotte Fire Special Operations Command Wednesday morning, Aug. 7, to provide critical support and assistance. The deployment consists of a Type 1 swift water team, whose primary mission is to rescue or evacuate individuals stranded by floodwaters.

The firehouse opened to the public following a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The district also held a wet down of its new heavy rescue truck.
