UPDATE: Two of the firefighters involved in yesterday’s crash were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. They remain under expert care. The other two firefighters were released from the hospital and sent home. They will remain under medical supervision and are off duty for an extended amount of time as they recover.

11:17 a.m. – Four Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters were transported to area hospitals after their fire truck crashed while en route to another accident. The crew of TAC43 were en route with lights and sirens activated and headed west on 30th street to an accident at 30th and Massachusetts.
The Tactical Truck made an attempt to maneuver around slowed traffic and a “wide load” being escorted by Indiana State Police (ISP) officers. While Engine 43 was successful with the maneuver, TAC43 was not. No other vehicles were involved.
All four firefighters sustained some level of injury from minor to serious but not life threatening. They are being treated at area hospitals after being transported by Indianapolis EMS medics.
The efforts of the three ISP officers to stop and render aid is much appreciated. Indiana Metro Police Department is investigating.
Four Indianapolis firefighters were transported to the hospital after their fire truck overturned Saturday morning, wthr.com reported.
Police reported to a crash on the intersection of East 30th Street and North Hawthorne Lane just before 11:30 a.m., the report said.
A fire official told 13News that the firefighters were heading to a nearby fatal crash on Massachusetts Avenue and East 30th Street when their truck overturned, the report said.
The official said four firefighters were transported to a local hospital, but three were injured. The extent of their injuries is unclear, according to the report.
