The Sabetha Fire Department made the following Facebook post Wednesday, July 31:
The Sabetha Fire Department took delivery of a brand new Rosenbauer pumper Wednesday, July 31.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Sabetha City Commission, Nemaha County Rural Fire District 5 and the taxpayers for making this possible.
“Our firefighters will spend the next week installing radios and firefighting equipment to get it ready for service.
“This truck is a huge upgrade for our department and is superior in every way to the more than 30-year-old truck it is replacing. A crew cab with built in air pack seats will allow us to arrive at the fire ready to work, as opposed to the older truck with no pack seats and a two-person cab. This is especially important when responding to rural fires where we already start at a time disadvantage just getting to fires miles from town.
“As with all modern vehicles, the safety features have come a long way in 30 years. Significant improvements to cab insulation as well as siren and horn placement will significantly reduce in-cab noise so responders can talk while on the way to emergencies. Having a new apparatus will reduce maintenance costs and breakdowns considerably.
“Again, we thank our community, rural fire district and taxpayers for investing in our department’s future. This truck will be serving them for decades to come.”
