The Colorado Springs Fire Department made the following post on Facebook recently:
“Something big is joining our fleet this fall. Any guesses on what our friends at Pierce Mfg are building for us? Yes, this is a fire apparatus as you can see, but it’s a pretty special one.
“Hint: think tall.
“Thanks to both Pierce and Front Range Fire Apparatus for these awesome pics. We can’t wait to share the progress with everyone throughout this process.”
The department revealed the mystery in a reply to its own post:
“For those of you who guessed a tower, you are correct. We’re welcoming a custom-built mid-mount tower that will be delivered late this fall and will be in service at Station 1 by January 2025. We’re pumped to welcome Tower 1 to our fleet. We’ll continue to share pictures of the progress as we get them. Here’s a mock-up drawing (below) of what it will look like.”
