Damage to Dallas (TX) Rigs Revealed in Post Crash Photos

UPDATE: A week after a Dallas fire truck fell from the I-345 expressway, a longtime lieutenant was released from the hospital following days in the ICU, wfaa.com reported.

Lieutenant John Hampton was discharged from Baylor Scott and White, surrounded by his family, friends, and Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel, according to the report. He was seen hugging and fist-bumping fellow firefighters as he was wheeled out of the hospital wearing a neck brace, the report said. He left the hospital with his thumb up as he waved goodbye to his fellow firefighters.

Three other firefighters in addition to Hampton were taken to Baylor University Medical Center immediately after the crash and sent home the same day, the report said.

Four Dallas firefighters were injured when their truck veered off Interstate 345 near South Good Latimer Expressway and onto the DART tracks below around 6 a.m. Sunday. The DART team has been working to reestablish power, replace poles and critical wiring and clear track debris for the past 72 hours. The transit agency began running test trains through the area early this morning to ensure normal operations, The Dallas Morning News reported.

A Dallas fire lieutenant remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit while three other firefighters have been released from the hospital. All four firefighters were transported to Baylor University Medical Center.

Three firefighters were released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon, while the lieutenant has been transferred to the ICU, WFAA reports.
