The Concord Fire Department made the following Facebook post Monday, July 22:
“For the fourth time in the past year, and the second truck within 24 hours, Concord Fire Department has had an apparatus struck by a passenger vehicle while operating on Interstate 85.
“Engine Company 11 was struck by a tractor-trailer while blocking for an incident. Fortunately, all firefighters are OK and were not around the apparatus at the time of the accident. The tractor-trailer that struck Engine Company 11 fled the scene and we are working directly with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the City of Concord Police Department with the investigation.”
Earlier yesterday, the department made this post:
“For the third time in the past year, Concord Fire Department has had an apparatus struck by a passenger vehicle while operating on Interstate 85. Fortunately, all firefighters are OK and were not around the apparatus at the time of the accident.
“We cannot stress this enough — SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION, and MOVE OVER!”
