The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department announced Sunday, July 21, on Facebook that it received a $30,000 grant to help replace aging apparatus.
Celestine VFD was recently awarded a $30,000 grant through the Dubois County Community Foundation in conjunction with the Celestine Community Endowment, the post said. These funds are instrumental in allowing the department to replace aging apparatus. The department said it was thankful for the support of the Dubois County Community Foundation and Celestine Indiana.
In March, a contract was signed and final specs approved for a new Ferrara pumper coming in 2025 which will replace the existing 2003 model. In April, the department was awarded a $20K grant from TC Energy to enable the department to outfit its new engine through TC Energy’s “Build Strong” program.
