Boise (ID) FD Addresses Concerns About Its Dive Rescue Boat

Source: Boise Fire Department Facebook page.

The Boise Fire Department was contacted by people floating on the river concerned about the Dive Rescue boat, the department said in a Facebook post Thursday, July 18.

“The department would like to address a few points:

“The Boise Fire Dive Rescue boat is designed to operate effectively in water depths as shallow as four inches. However, to maintain maneuverability, it must achieve and maintain a certain speed. Due to the current low river flow, this necessitates operating the boat at higher speeds in certain areas. We would like to alert floaters and river users to be aware that the Boise Fire Dive Rescue Boat might be on the river, and to be attentive to hand signals and instructions from dive team members, directing them to move to one side of the river if necessary. Currently, the Dive Rescue team is active on the Boise River only when essential, responding to emergencies or conducting training. Your cooperation in ensuring river safety is greatly appreciated!”
