The Connersville Fire Department recently received two new sets of battery-operated HURST Extrication tools, known as the “Jaws of Life,” the department said in a Facebook post.
One set of these tools will be placed on Rescue 21, which responds to all motor vehicle accidents in Fayette County. The other new set will be placed on Engine 3. The current gas-powered hydraulic rescue tools from Rescue 21 will be moved to Engine 1.
All three Connersville fire stations are now equipped with extrication tools and will be ready to respond with rescue equipment.
“This is a huge addition to our department and will allow us to extricate patients from vehicles quicker and more efficiently,” the department said in the post.
The new tools were purchased by the City of Connersville with COVID relief ARPA funds.
