The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating after an SUV hit an Albuquerque Fire Rescue pumper parked at the scene of a motor vehicle crash Monday, July 1.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue Engine 16 and Rescue 16 were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at Tramway and Montgomery at 8 p.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post.
“Rescue 16 and Engine 16 parked to protect the scene from oncoming traffic. While working the scene and assessing patients, Engine 16 was struck on the front left corner by an SUV traveling north,” the post said. “Due to the impact, Engine 16 requested additional apparatus to handle the two scenes while they evaluated the need for extrication and the conditions of firefighters and the driver of the SUV. Crews were able the remove the driver from the SUV for assessment.”
One person from the original accident scene was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. No firefighters were injured in the incident and nobody from the original collision received additional injuries, the post said.
