A Detroit Fire Department engine was involved in a crash Monday at Livernois and Grand River Avenue while responding to a fire.

A Detroit police officer at the scene Monday night confirmed those involved survived and were hospitalized in stable condition, but declined to say the number or nature of injuries. She said she couldn’t provide more information.

Two damaged vehicles were at the scene shortly before 6 p.m. when a tow truck took one away. The other, heavily damaged in the front end and rear of the car, was taken away around 6:15 p.m.

Three Detroit Police Department vehicles blocked off Livernois south of Grand River. All emergency vehicles, including the fire apparatus involved in the crash, had left shortly before 6:30 p.m.
