Jacksonville City Council met Tuesday, June 11 and approved spending $3.1 million to purchase a new pumper and ladder truck for the city, kltv.com reported.
These new rigs will replace aging apparatus, the report said. The old pumper, purchased in 2013, will be repaired soon, then will be put in reserve, according to the report.
The ladder truck, purchased in 2007, has been out of commission due to maintenance issues, the report said. And parts for the ladder truck are becoming increasingly harder to find, a fire official said.
The new pumper could be in the fleet as early as August, but the ladder truck has some lead time, according to the report.
