A new fire station is coming to Hoover as city leaders officially broke ground Tuesday, June 4 on the new Fire Station 1 in the Green Valley area, wbrc.com reported.
The new $5 million station will replace the city’s original fire station built by volunteers back in the 1960s when Hoover Fire was a volunteer department, the report said.
The 8,800-square-foot station will feature larger bays. A rig will be able to pull through one of the bays so apparatus drivers don’t have to back up on the highway, according to the report.
A fire official said they’re unsure what will happen to the original fire station, but the brand new one is expected to open by August 2025, the report said.
