WATCH | Centennial Airport and South Metro (CO) Fire Rescue Transition to Fluorine-Free Firefighting Foam

South Metro Fire Rescue, in collaboration with Centennial Airport, announced recently that it is the first in the state of Colorado to implement fluorine-free firefighting foam, the department said in a YouTube.com post.

“Our proactive efforts to mitigate environmental impacts demonstrates our commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainability,” the department said in the post. “By adopting this eco-friendly firefighting solution, we’re taking a significant step towards reducing harmful chemicals in our environment. South Metro Fire Rescue ARFF apparatus Red 1, Red 2, and Red 3 now all provide new Solberg 3% MIL-SPEC synthetic fluorine-free foam, Purple K, and water to respond to incidents on and off airport. We value our partnership with Centennial Airport and their unwavering support in achieving this milestone. Together, we’re aiming for a greener community”
