At 11:40 a.m. Friday, Highlandville Fire Protection District received a call for a motor vehicle collision on U.S.-65 south near Sawmill Road. Chief 71 and Engine 75 were en route, the department said in a Facebook post.

Engine 75 was traveling east on Highway EE when it was involved in a collision. There are no injuries and no other vehicles were struck.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the fire apparatus overcorrected on the road and flipped over, ozarkfirst.com reported.

Engine 75 caught fire and the Ozark Fire Department responded to help put out the flames.

There was a loud “boom” heard by a lot of people. The first boom was a tire; the second boom was the self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) bottle in the captain’s seat, the department said.
