The Port Huron Fire Department will soon add a new Sutphen pumper to its fleet, thetimesherald.com reported.
The new engine (1,500-gallons-per-minute, carrying 750 gallons) will be housed at the new White Park station once it opens and will be the department’s new Engine Company 1, the report said.
A fire official said funding for the new fire engine was approved in 2021, costing $646,000, which includes the cost for equipment and fire hose.
The new pumper should be ready in May, according to the report.
The department will retire its 1999 KME engine. A 2006 Spartan engine will be placed into a reserve role, the report said. The department maintains a fleet of four engines – two in a frontline role; two in reserve.
