Northport Fire and Rescue dedicated a new pumper Monday, Feb. 5, the city said in a Facebook post.
The new E-ONE Typhoon pumper has a 720-gallon water tank, 30-gallon foam capacity, with a 450 HP Cummins engine and Allison transmission.
The six-seater provides enhanced firefighter safety, meeting or exceeding all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements, with improved visibility, functionality, and overall operation to allow safer and more efficient response.
The purchase is made possible through healthy revenue collections due to a strong local economy and conservative budgeting. Revenues in excess of operating expenditures provides the funding for needed capital items and projects such as this new pumper.
As is customary, the apparatus bears a plaque featuring the names of current city of Northport leadership and its January 2024 service date.
