The city of Shively held a wet-down and push-in ceremony Sunday for the fire department’s new Seagrave pumper, wdrb.com reported.
Some apparatus can stay in rotation for more than 25 years, the report said. Shively Fire Department has been working on getting a new truck in service for about two years, according to the report.
“Shively Fire and Rescue would like to thank those that helped celebrate the new Engine 25 ceremonial push-in and wet down,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Due to the freezing temperatures, we did modify the ceremony, but keeping with firefighter tradition, we adapted and overcame the weather.
“We would like to thank Mayor Johnson for the words of support and special thanks to our Fire Chaplin, Pastor Audrey Johnson, for the blessing of Engine 25. After the ceremony Engine 25 was put in service and is now protecting the city of Shively.”
