PRESS RELEASE
The Falconer Fire Department received an Assistance to Firefighters Grant for $107,021, New York Congressman Nick Langworthy announced Nov. 21.
Langworthy met with Falconer first responders and announced the AFG grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Langworthy was joined at the station by Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel.
“It’s an honor to thank these first responders in person and to announce this critical federal funding that will support the Falconer Fire Department in their important work,” said Langworthy. “Our firefighters and emergency personnel put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and they deserve the resources necessary to effectively carry out their duties.”
The Falconer Fire Department intends to use this grant to purchase 24 new sets of turnout gear.
According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.
