The Auburn Fire Rescue Department made the following Facebook post Oct. 11:
Wednesday, Oct. 11 Auburn Fire Rescue took delivery of its new 2022 Chevy 5500 4X4 Ambulance built by Road Rescue and outfitted by Allegiance Fire & Rescue. This truck replaces the old Ambulance 1 that was put out of service earlier this year and will be housed at the West Street station.
The ambulance and equipment were donated by Auburn resident Deborah Farnum Virgilio who passed away last year. The donation is in memory of her parents Earl W. Farnum Jr. and Marion Kingdon Farnum. It will be formally dedicated next week with a plaque honoring the generous donation of $525,000 for the ambulance and equipment.
The donor was a regular patient of Auburn first responders toward the end of her life, whdh.com reported.
The department already had funds set aside to buy an ambulance, so Virgilio’s donation allowed the department to make repairs at the fire headquarters and to buy PPE for new firefighters, the report said.
