IN City Gets $80K Savings in Purchase of New Fire Apparatus

City of Anderson Indiana fire apparatus

The city of Anderson (IN) Board of Public Safety Monday voted to approve the purchase of a new fire apparatus.

Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr. told reporters with The Herald Bulletin that eight years ago the department replaced the pumper truck at Station 8 that was leaking, and now it was time to replace that rig.

Fire Chief Dave Cravens said the city was purchasing an apparatus that was used as a demonstrator model at a savings of approximately $80,000.

Chief Cravens added that the purchase price is $577,434 and the department should take delivery in July instead of having to wait 24 months to order a truck. The existing truck will be used as a spare apparatus.

Earlier this month, the Board of Public Safety approved the purchase of a chassis for the pumper truck at Station 2 to be delivered in December at a cost of $237,088.
