Charleston (SC) Fire Department Unveils Two New Apparatus: HAZMAT Truck and Pumper

Apparatus Reveal: New Engine 109 – Coming soon to the upper peninsula of downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

Engine 109 is part of Battalion 103 and directly supports our Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Team who provide specialized response to chemical spills, gas leaks, suspected drug labs and more and other emergency calls that deal with HAZMAT. This crucial role in their response capability to the city is why Engine 109 is known as the “Nasty Nine.”
