BREDA, Iowa (June 1, 2023) – Based in the historic village of Amboy, Illinois, the Amboy Fire Protection District (AFPD) is a 40-plus member volunteer fire department serving a local rural area of approximately 8,000 residents. The department, which is 12 miles south of Dixon, Illinois, Former President Ronald Reagan’s hometown, recently took delivery of its third Toyne tailored apparatus.
AFPD provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the district, which burgeons to 50,000 people during the summer months, due to multiple area campgrounds. Their newest apparatus, Engine 704, a Toyne Pumper tanker-tender, includes a bolted painted stainless steel body and was fitted to a Spartan Metro Star MFD with 10″ raised roof chassis. The Amboy Fire Protection District responded to around 400 emergency incidents in 2022 and provides mutual aid efforts and EMS transport services for neighboring departments and fire districts.
