The Killeen (TX) Fire Department has put together a 5- to 6-year plan that includes addressing the lack of fire stations in newer parts of the city, reports kwtx.com.
Estimates have the cost of a new station around the $8-$10-million range, the report says, which includes updating some of the current facilities. An inspection of current facilities revealed issues like missing exhaust outlets, improper storage, and lack of space.
There’s currently no timetable for the start of construction on any new stations, according to the report, though residents may soon be surveyed on what they feel should be prioritized.
