E-ONE Sells $5.5 Million Of Apparatus To Orange County
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) in Irvine, Calif., has taken delivery of 16 E-ONE custom pumpers at a cost of $360,000 each for a total sale in excess of $5.5 million.
The 16 pumpers are built on E-ONE’s Cyclone II cab and chassis and are powered by Detroit Diesel Series 60 455 hp engines and Allison 4000EVSP transmissions.
They’re equipped with Hale Qmax 1,500 gpm pumps and 530-gallon E-ONE tanks with 10-gallon foam cells for FoamPro 2001 foam systems. They also have Akron Apollo high-rise deck guns and 8,000-watt SmartPower hydraulic generators.
For scene lighting they have two Havis-Shields 150-watt, 12-volt Magnafire lights.
OCFA officials said with the addition of double-arm hydraulic ladder racks, the department was able to increase compartment storage space to accommodate increasing equipment needs. Although the units have extra compartment space, a short wheelbase was maintained to improve maneuverability.
OCFA is one of the largest departments in the nation with 62 stations servicing more than 22 communities. There are 850 career firefighters on the force with 300 in reserve protecting a population of more than 1.3 million people on 551 square miles. The department responds to more than 83,000 fire and emergency medical calls annually.
When the orders were initially placed, E-ONE officials hailed the sales as evidence of the strong relationship the Ocala, Fla. –based apparatus builder enjoys with OCFA.
E-ONE executives said a company is measured by the caliber of its customers, and E-ONE was pleased to be selected by one of the nation’s largest fire departments.
OCFA officials said one of the prime reasons the department selected E-ONE was due to the fact that it was the lowest bidder to meet the department’s specifications.
The vehicles were sold by Bob Lawrence, Valley Fire Services, City of Industry, Calif. The dealer said OCFA has been doing business with the dealership for years, and an excellent relationship developed while the department had its many Detroit Diesel and Allison equipped apparatus serviced at Valley Fire Services.
E-ONE engineers and builds a complete line of apparatus, including hazardous materials units, explosive ordinance trucks, command centers and aircraft rescue vehicles.
E-ONE is an ISO 9001 registered manufacturer and is a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation.
